The English Department at Glenwood High School aims to develop confident readers, writers and communicators across all stages from S1 to S6.

During the Broad General Education (S1–S3), pupils build core skills in reading, writing, listening and talking through the study of novels, poetry, drama and media. As they progress into the Senior Phase, they are prepared for National Qualifications and supported in achieving their full potential.

Our courses encourage pupils to express their ideas clearly, analyse a wide range of texts and communicate effectively in different contexts. We also aim to develop critical thinking, creativity and independence through both written and spoken work.

Through their learning in English, pupils gain the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
