On Wednesday the 4th of March we welcomed award-winning children’s author, Justin Davies, who spoke to our S1 pupils about his adventures as a writer.
We learned about his journey to becoming an author - and his love of jelly fish! - and Justin answered numerous excellent questions provided by our S1 pupils, who were all very excited and keen to learn more.
Our pupils also helped Justin create a story about our heroine Ashley Blue and the villainous Alice Mussel. (And the jungle! And the Portuguese man! And the Spider-Man hands! And the lost powers!)
Thank you so much to Justin Davies and Alice from Waterstones for helping us plan such a lovely event. More to come in future!
Book Club now runs Thursday lunchtimes in the Family Room. Anyone wishing to attend can pop up at lunchtime. You're welcome to bring your lunches with you...and any books you may be reading of course!

In July 2025 we achieved the Reading Schools core accreditation. This recognises the school has sound foundations across the school providing a great reading culture for learners which is supported across departments.
The author, Brian Conaghan, who visited the school earlier in the session sent a congratulatory message available here.
